What to budget for, whoever builds it.
Your domain
Your .nz or .co.nz name, renewed with a registrar. It should always be registered in your name, so you own it. We can register and look after a .nz for you for $100 + GST every two years, or you can bring your own.
Hosting and security
Somewhere for the site to live, plus the padlock (SSL) and backups. Included in both biff plans.
Changes and fixes
Prices change, hours change, things break. Budget for someone to handle it, or your own time. Small changes are included with biff.

Then $99 a month to keep it running, or $149 for Sorted, where we also post to your Google Business Profile every month.

How much does a small business website cost in New Zealand?
It depends who builds it. Published 2026 price guides from NZ web designers put most professionally built small business sites at around $3,000 to $10,000, freelancers at roughly $1,500 to $5,000, and agencies from $5,000 to $20,000 or more. biff builds a site of up to 5 pages for $999 + GST.
What are the ongoing costs of a website?
Hosting, security certificates, backups, updates and your domain name. NZ web designers commonly charge around $39 to $99 a month for hosting and care. biff's Keep it running plan is $99 + GST a month and includes hosting, SSL, backups, fixes and one small change a month.
Is a DIY website builder cheaper?
On paper, yes. Builders like Wix and Squarespace cost a few hundred dollars a year. The catch is your time: you design it, write it, fix it and keep it up to date yourself.
